Melissa Li

Melissa Li rejoined CIBC in 2016 as a Managing Director in the Private Capital Group at CIBC Capital Markets. In her current role, Melissa co-leads CIBC’s Financials and Private Capital team, with primary responsibility for global coverage of pension funds, private equity firms and family offices across the consumer, industrial, technology and financial services sectors. From 2015 to 2016, Ms. Li was Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy at George Weston Limited, where she led a number of corporate divestitures and strategic initiatives. Before joining George Weston, Ms. Li spent eight years in CIBC’s Mergers & Acquisitions group, executing transactions across the real estate, mining, consumer, industrial and oil & gas sectors.
Prior to joining CIBC, Ms. Li spent three years in technology investment banking at Citigroup, and six years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Corporate Finance practice. Notable transactions include the IPO of dentalcorp, Brookfield’s strategic investment in Superior Plus, the sale of BGIS to CCMP Capital Advisors, and the sale of Rubicon Pharmacies to Neighbourly Pharmacies.
Ms. Li sits on the Board of Directors of the CIBC Foundation.
Ms. Li earned an MBA from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University
of Western Ontario.
